It takes a lot for me to go on faith and follow a quilt along without knowing what the final outcome is going to look like. Thankfully, I have faith in the uber talented Sharon Blackmore of Love Shack Quilts.
Right now, I”m working on her Blindfold Me Baby mystery quilt – available only by joining the fun group over at the Prairie Quilt Militia on Facebook. I chose – of course – 50 shades of gray for my fabrics.
Recently bought a Dresden plate ruler. I’m intrigued by the shapes you can make just by altering the height of the slices.
Wanted to make a sun shape for a round robin quilt I’m working on. I’m the third person to work on this piece. Wanted to continue the sun theme.
But I didn’t want to keep the sun whole….
Still deciding what stitch I’m going to use to sew the shapes down. Also haven’t figured out if I’m going to put a fabric centre or leave the background showing. Maybe one of each.
Being sick with a nasty cold does have some pay-off, namely, some time to do some sewing.
Spent more time playing with a charm pack of Neptune and the small Lil Twister tool. Last week I made this block:
And liked it so much I made three more. Sewed them together, cut some more charm squares in half to create a border and voila! Mini quilt!
Just needs to be layered, quilted and bound. Just….
My Mum taught me how to sew. Which means it’s been tough to go into my sewing room of late. Finally managed to spend a couple of hours yesterday playing.
Eventually, I grabbed a charm pack of Neptune and some Kona white scraps, plus my Lil Twister ruler and made a block.
I love how this turned out. The colours in the Neptune are beautiful and really pop against the white. I’m going to make a few more of these and sew them into a mini quilt.
Glad to have spent some time sewing. It’s therapy.
Started piecing the first blocks of my Super Nova quilt today. Could have called this post ‘How not to pack a project for camp.’ What a bleeding disaster this has been. I cut 72 rectangles the wrong size, lost one patterned piece and completely neglected to bring spare fabric with me. So very unorganized.
But, and despite all the mess ups, I did manage to complete two blocks and almost finish a third. One is above. Six more to go!
